This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hills Pet Nutrition for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Sparky is my little shadow and this weekend he was in pain. He is about 8 years old and is starting to feel the effects of joint pain. There are days when he is full of life and other days where he can hardly move. Being that he is a small breed (Miniature Pincher) he has a lot of years left to live and I want them to be comfortable.
It was on Friday that Sparky was really sore and hid most of the day. I spent my time looking up solutions to his pain online. I looked at dog pain pills, supplements and different types of dog food. The result was that I decided to give him a baby aspirin (81mg) and see what would happen. The aspirin did not take affect until 2 hours later when he was his active self again. The advice was not to give him more than one dose in a 24 hour period so he had to wait until the next day for his next pill. The next day he was in pain again so I gave him another pill. I let him outside to get some sun and I guess he forgot he had a pain issue and he ran and jumped off the porch which is something he might do when he is feeling fine without pain meds. He tumbled upon landing and rolled at least five times. He limped back into the house. So much for pain meds because now he was injured. Back to looking for other solutions.
During my internet search I found that Hill's Pet Nutrition has a dog mobility challenge and that they will be giving away dog food. They also had a $30 coupon I could use, you can find it at Hill's Healthy Mobility Coupon. That was a perfect solution at the right time for my little guy. Most of the dog foods I looked at for senior dogs were weight management only and not joint care. The dog foods with joint care did not take into account the age of the dog. Opps, I almost forgot, if you register at Hill's for their coupons you are automatically entered into a sweepstakes that you can get free pet food for a year!! Yes I entered.
I am also going to check out Hill's Pet Nutrition on Facebook to see if they have any offers there.
Sparky will now be on a long term health management program for his pain and continued well being.
